Yoga Instruction
Are you relatively healthy with no severe injuries?
Are you able to participate in group classes without a lot of individualized modifications?
If you answered yes to these two questions then I invite you to participate in one of the classes I offer to the general public. The following class descriptions can help you decide which class is right for you, or feel free to contact me to discuss your interests. To find out when and where the classes meet please check the class schedule.
Hot Yoga (Bikram-style)
- Class is held in a hot, humidified room
- All postures are appropriate for beginners, although seasoned practitioners will still be challenged
- Each class addresses the entire body, positively impacting all the major organs, glands, muscles, and joints.
- Wonderful for people who are recovering from orthopedic injuries (no longer in the acute phase). The heat feels great on tight muscles!
Hot Power Fusion
- Class is held in a warm, humidified room; not quite as hot as Hot Yoga
- Includes many Hot Yoga postures, plus hip openers and strengthening for core and upper body
- Sequence flows from one pose to the next, with moderately long holds to find your alignment
- Music is played in class
- If you are a devoted Hot Yoga practitioner who is looking to change it up a bit, this is the class for you!
Yin Yoga
- Class is held in a slightly warmed room, music is typically played
- Focus is on floor postures that deeply stretch the low back, hips, and legs
- Longer-held poses (up to 5 minutes) help soften the connective tissue that restricts joint mobility
- Perfect complement for active, athletic, or stiff people who do lots of "yang" - dynamic - activities and exercise. This meditative class is all about undoing tension!
